I guess they’re right because as we left that area there was a sign that said “drug free zone”! Does that mean that behind us it’s a free for all? Oh well, it will be interesting to see what he chooses, and who chooses him. Palo Alto, the nearest town to Stanford is a very upper class row of high end stores, even an Apple Store. Berkeley’s Telegraph Road is STILL staunchly in the 1960s with hippy drug paraphenalia shops and used record stores, and smells of incense in the air. Both old established extremely highly ranked schools, but where Stanford is well groomed and every building’s architecture is identical (but beautiful), Berkeley is full of huge trees (largest eucalyptus grove outside of Australia) and every building is completely different. I was really pushing for Berkeley, since it’s about $20K with room and board, while Stanford is $45K! These two schools couldn’t be more different. There’s a reasonable chance he just might make it into one of those schools. I shouldn’t call him a little brat, he’s actually about 5’11. I’ve been traveling like CRAZY lately! First the New Media Expo in Las Vegas, then my great weekend in Virginia, then this weekend we took that little brat Kyle up to see Stanford and Berkeley as potential college choices.
